The base Vel 46 is not the best SMG in MW2, but it can be one of the best. Attachments can turn the Vel 46 into a silent, efficient weapon at close quarters with the rune parts and the right combinations.
Some weapons, like theSTB 556, don’t need any attachments to be super effective in this game. Although you can improve these weapons, they are already good without attachments.
Others, however, are rough gems. They don’t seem that great at first, but there is a way to transform them into glorious, effective guns with excellent performance.

Laser: VLK LZR 7MW
The VLK LZR 7MW laser increases your Aim Down Sight Speed and Aiming Stability. It also increases your Sprint to Fire Speed.
The only downside of this attachment is that your laser is visible in ADS, which is no big deal. It’s a massive benefit for something that shouldn’t cause you any trouble at all.
You won’t be announcing where you are by standing still and aiming down while waiting for someone to appear. If you are doing that, though, please stop.
This weapon is great for running and gunning, so you might as well start using it as it is intended. Or, if you do plan to use the Vel 46 to camp, the VLK LZR 7MW might not be the best idea.
Stock: LM Precision Stock
This stock hurts your mobility a bit, but barely. In exchange for slightly less Aim Walking Speed and Sprint Speed, you get more Aiming Stability.
If you are using an SMG, chances are you will be bunny-hopping and sprinting. SMGs are much better at shorter distances but also tend to have a hard-to-control recoil when you hold down the trigger.
Therefore, you will probably need this stock’s extra Aiming Stability to make the most of this submachine gun.
Ammunition: 30 Round Mag
Another no-brainer attachment for your Vel 46.
With 30 Round Mag, you will have fewer bullets in each magazine. You will get so much from it that it will be worth it unless you waste too many shots.
In exchange for having a smaller magazine, you get better Aim Down Sight Speed, Reload Quickness, Movement Speed, and Sprint to Fire Speed.
All those benefits come with the cost of having 15 fewer bullets each time you have to reload.
The Vel-46 is already fast and has incredible ADS time. Still, this weapon will become lightning fast with a lighter magazine, and your ADS will be near instant.
Rear Grip: Schlager Soldier Grip
This grip will take away some of your recoil control, but don’t worry. You have more than enough.
In exchange, you get better Sprint to Fire Speed and Aim Down Sight Speed.
This item helps you get the Vel 46 to the lightning-fast status we want it to achieve.
Muzzle: Bruen Cubic Comp
We will add the Bruen Cubic Comp muzzle to compensate for the Schlager Soldier Grip.
It takes away a little bit of your ADS speed, which we have enough by now. It also improves your Horizontal Recoil Control and Vertical Recoil Control, making the Vel-46 much more accurate.
With all these attachments combined, you get a weapon that can be as low recoil and efficient as possible. The gun will have barely no recoil and will be downing enemies pretty fast.

If you consider that the Vel 46 is already fast enough, you might be willing to sacrifice some of its Handling and Mobility for extra damage, range, and accuracy.
This loadout will hard your Aim Down Sight Speed. However, it will make the Vel 46 much more reliable at medium ranges. It also makes it much easier to control its recoil.
Generally speaking, SMGs are better at short range skirmishes, so there really isn’t much you can do to make it compete with weapons at longer ranges.
However, if you are still learning the game and you want to unlock your gold camo, you might feel a bit more comfortable being at some distance from your enemies instead of bunny hopping in their face.
This is when this alternative loadout comes in.
